EVANSDALE - Richard G. Lamb, 50, died Thursday, Dec 23, at home of cancer.  Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Evansdale, with burial in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Marshalltown at 3 p.m.

He was born Jan 7, 1943, in Marshalltown, the son C.B. and Helen E. Miller Lamb.  He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.  He married Margaret J. Baker on Aug 8, 1964 at Fort Belvoir, Va.  After the military, he served in the police department in Washington, DC for 20 years, retiring in 1984.  He then became police chief of Evansdale in 1985 and was currently serving in that capacity. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Iowa Police Executive Forum.

Richard is survived by his wife, Margaret; his mother, Helen of Marshalltown; a son, William L. Lamb of Evansdale; two daughters, Robin R. Lamb of Cedar Falls, and Susan J. Lamb of Evansdale; four brothers, Don Lamb and Kenneth Lamb both of Marshalltown, Gary Lamb of St. Louis and Larry Good of Marshalltown; two sisters, Shirley Sternola of Golden Colo,and Elaine Budke of Edina, Minn and four grandchildren.
