Mary Bernard is dead at 27

Services for Miss Mary Bernard, 27, 208 S.7th Ave., were at 1:30 p.m. this Monday at First United Church of Christ with the Rev. Harley Gelhaus in charge.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Bearers were Merlyn Luethje, Joseph Sowder, Donald Grimm, Robert Brush, Raymond Schumann, and Bill Peterson.

Miss Bernard was pronounced dead on arrival at Marshalltown Community Hospital East.  Death was from natural causes.  She was born May 29, 1942 in Marshalltown, a daughter of John K. Bernard and Frances Pauline Sherman Bernard.

Pursel-Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She was graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1961 and from Marshalltown Community College in 1963 and had been employed at Community Hospital East as a clerk for two years.

Surviving are her parents and five sisters.  They are Mrs. Merlyn (Joan) Luethje and Mrs. Donald (Linda) Grimm of Manchester, Mrs. Phyllis Poling of State Center, Mrs. Joseph (Alice) Sowder of Buffalo Center and Mrs. Frances Johnson of Marshalltown
