Edward Baily, 55

   Edward Bailey, 55, of 420 Union St. died Monday, May 10, 1999, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.

   Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Estel-Perrin Avey Funeral Home with the Rev. Hansel Jones of the Second Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery.  Friends may call the funeral home after 5 p.m. Friday.

   He was born on July 20, 1943, in Marshalltown to Manuel and Iver Jeane (Gandy) Bailey Sr.  He received his education in the area of his birth and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1961.  After this time, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served for three years.

  He was employed for some time at Fishers and Lennox and for several years at Swifts before doing carpentry and construction.  He was a member of the Second Baptist Church and Knights of Pythias.

   Survivors include his mother Iver of Marshalltown; three sisters, Sybil Bailey of Seattle, Wash., Barbara Wilder of Marshalltown and Denise Andrews of Marshalltown.

   He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
