Bob Robinson

Bob Robinson

Robert C. Robinson 10/5/1943 - 8/21/2024

On August 21st, Bob Robinson of Chehalis, Washington, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife Janet of 44 years and 11 months; daughter Kerri, and grandchildren Taylor and Mackenzie. (Two additional grandchildren, Conner and Cameron live and work in Oregon State).

Bob was 80 years old and had lived a full life, but had courageously been dealing with Parkinson's and other complications since 2016. He was at home under Hospice care and Jan's attentions during the last week of his life.

Bob grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa and earned a Civil Engineering Degree at Iowa State University in 1967. He enjoyed mid-west hunting and fishing, and so when offered, took a Department of Transportation engineering job to explore Washington State outdoor activities and environment. Bob worked for 25 years in many different capacities for the Washington Department of Transportation (Wash-DOT) at both the Vancouver and Olympia offices. That included field work and surveying, roadway design, bridges, project funding, and team supervision. He retired in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lena and Robert, sister Janice, first wife Joanne, and two sons Brandon and Kendall. He was a cheerful and creative person, and greatly enjoyed family outings; camping, fishing, bow hunting, carpentry and working with his 'best helper - Johnny Deere'. Bob and Jan had many good years following retirement -- moving to Lewis County and developing their own homestead "out in the country." Family and friends all agree that he was "one of the best" and will be greatly missed.

The family is planning a memorial service (by invitation only) that will be held on what would have been Bob's 81st birthday, October 5th, 2024. Cards and remembrances can be sent to the 'homestead'. Donations in memory of Bob can be made to the Chehalis River Basin Land Trust at PO Box 563, Centralia, WA 98531.

I just saw the remembrance of Bob. We were good friends in HS, and got together some the summer after the 1st year of college. He truly was a fun individual. I pray the family and close friends have peace in fond, fun memories with him.
