June 8, 1942 - August 22, 2016

 

  Judy Henson, 74, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016,   with her family by her side while visiting her sister in the state of Washington.

   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

   Judith Ann Birchard was born on June 8, 1942, in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Winnifield “Pete” and Alberta (Buffington) Birchard. She attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the Class of 1961. Judy had worked at Stewart Lumber from 1977 to 1988, Dunham Bush and Mepco from 1988 to 2003, and drove a city bus from 2003 until she retired in 2005. Judy had been a Girl Scout leader, member of Tri TTT Society, Pony Express, Big Brother Big Sister, UAW #893, Woodbury School Committee, Chairperson Women’s Committee, Central Iowa Daylily Society, Union Shop Committee, Solid Waste Commission, Kiwanis P.M. and Red Hatters. She enjoyed drawing, painting, singing, traveling, decorating her walls at home, and always enjoyed having fun and will be remembered for her wonderful laughs and smiles.

   Left to cherish Judy’s memory is her daughter, Kary Jane Moore of Dysart, Iowa; grandson, Carter Moore; sisters, Marland Birchard of Washington state, Barbara (Larry) McGrew of Marshalltown, Iowa; niece, Jennifer McGrew; nephew, Kevin McGrew, both of Marshalltown, and a host of family and friends.

   In death Judy rejoins her parents, Pete and Alberta Birchard.

Judy, a friend to all, was loved by all, me included.  She was a true friend and inspiration to other's with her sweet disposition at all times.  Rest in peace, sweet friend and know your family, is in our thoughts and prayers.  Judy will be missed at our class reunion.
