   Wayne  Lester  Spencer,  56,  of 2010 Avalon Road died of cancer Saturday at the Kavanagh House on Grand in West Des Moines.  Services will be at 1:30 p.m.  Tuesday at Brooks Funeral Care.   Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

   Mr. Spencer had lived in Des Moines since 1972.  He was a retired accountant for the Natural Resources Conservation Service at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, an Army veteran and a member of First Church of Grace and Hope.

   He is survived by six brothers, Frank and Marvin, both of Waterloo, and Craig, Julian, Leonard and Lawrence, all of Marshalltown.

   His longtime companion was Bret Engel of Des Moines.

   Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League.
