     Gerald Lee Klimisch passed away February 15, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer. Jerry was born on August 27, 1943, in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he grew up and attended St Mary’s Catholic School.

     After high school, he went on to attend Loras College in Dubuque where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in Economics. After college, he began a successful career in the telephone business working in Des Moines, Omaha, and Minneapolis. He was married to Sara Quinn, and they had two children.

     Jerry is survived by his two children Matt (Renee) Klimisch of Tulsa, OK, and Christen (Mark) Bliss of Adel, IA, as well as, four grandchildren Quinn Klimisch, Kate Klimisch, Patrick Bliss, and Colin Bliss. In addition, he is survived by his four siblings William (Martha) Klimisch, Richard (Prudence) Klimisch, Patricia Melcher, and JoAnn (Robert) Galbraith.

     He is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Opal Klimisch, brother-in-law, Michael Melcher, and niece, Sheila Melcher.
Jerry enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events and spending time with his family. He could always be relied on to be there for his family and was always their biggest supporter.


     Jerry was an avid golfer. In recent years he primarily played at Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown and was also a member for many years at Echo Valley Country Club in Des Moines. Jerry was a voracious reader often reading multiple books per week.


     He will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 24 at St. Francis of Assis Parish: St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshalltown, Iowa, at 11:00 AM following a visitation starting at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will follow the burial service at Riverside Cemetery.
